Travelers to Canada are considered to be criminally inadmissible if they were convicted of an offence outside of Canada that is considered a crime in Canada. In order to enter Canada, these persons must obtain a Temporary Resident Permit or apply for an Approval of Rehabilitation.
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) and any related offences involving operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol or drugs render persons criminally inadmissible to Canada. As such, these persons will need a Temporary Resident Permit or Approval of Rehabilitation to enter Canada for any reason or length of time.
